Pot of Gold Music Festival Hits Tempe Beach Park March 13, 14, 15 & 17th

March 6, 2015

Music Festival: two common words that, when combined, guarantee the best day ever.

So maybe that’s just my personal definition, but I know that I’m not alone when it comes to enjoying music festivals. And, this year, music fans are in luck. Tempe is home to a new event this spring – the Pot of Gold Music Festival, March 13-15 and 17, 2015. The lineup is a dream for music fans with artists who we all know and love and up and coming acts that are going to be the next big thing.

Tempe Beach Park, at Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway, is an excellent location for this event. The lakeside setting is beautiful, there’s plenty of room to roam and it is right next door to all of the restaurants and bars in Downtown Tempe. There are lots of places to choose from for pre-concert lunch or dinner or late night cocktails. Some of our favorite places to hang out, that also happen to host live music on a regular basis, include Culinary Dropout, Fat Tuesday, Rula Bula Irish Pub and Blasted Barley Brewing Co.

Here’s a daily rundown of who you’ll see at the Pot of Gold Music Festival in Tempe.

Friday, March 13

Bastille is the headliner for what will be a fantastic kick off for this event. This British band plays music that is a combination of pop sensibilities and the moodiness of alt rock. They’ll make you dance and their lyrics will make you think. AWOLNATION, an American band best known for rock anthems like “Sail” and “Kill Your Heroes” is also on deck. And, I’m excited to see the Bleachers, the side project of Jack Antonoff from fun.

Saturday, March 14

Saturday is built for music fans who like their hip hop served with a side of reggae and rock. The headliner is Kendrick Lamar. Lamar is one of the most exciting rappers around and I’ve heard that his live shows live up to the hype. The Kongos, Slightly Stoopid, Schoolboy Q and Hoodie Allen are just some of the acts that will entertain the masses on Saturday.

Sunday, March 15

Fall Out Boy, who provided the soundtrack for the mid-2000s, reunited in 2012, releasing catchy tunes that earned them heavy radio rotation once again. They’ll be preceded by some of the most exciting musical acts in alt rock, including Echosmith, Knox Hamilton, Milky Chance and Big Data.

Tuesday, March 17

Ah yes, St. Patrick’s Day. Over the past few years, Tempe has put on a lakeside concert for music fans adorned in green attire. You’ll want to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Tempe again in 2015 with performances from Korn and Godsmack. Rockers Chevelle and Right to Remain will open up the show.

Tickets are being sold for each day. So you can choose to go for just one day, or all four. Visit the Pot of Gold Music Festival website to buy tickets and for more information.
